Today is the birthday of
Dr. Seuss!Boo's favorite Dr. Seuss book is
I Can Read With My Eyes Shut. "I can read 'Mississippi' with my eyes shut tight! Mississippi, Indianapolis, and Hallelujah too. I can read them with my eyes shut, that is very hard to do. But it's bad for my hat and makes my eyesbrows get red hot, so reading with my eyes shut I don't do an awful lot. And when I keep them open I can read with much more speed. You have to be a speedy reader, cause there's so so much to read!"
I love
Fox In Socks because my dad used to read it to us at night. I love
How The Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat In The Hat is so clever.
I love Dr. Seuss! When I was in college I did a whole report on him - and presented it on his birthday! Leesha even let me borrow her cat in the hat costume (hat, tail , bib) to entertain my 1st graders! He's the best!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, have you ever read 'Oh, the Thinks you can Think'? I really like it. And we like 'Dr. Seuss' Many Colored Days'. They are two that I hadn't really heard lots about, but we discovered them and love them. I love that Brooke loves 'I can read with my eyes shut'. That's such a great one too! Dr Seuss is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSomebody announced during their testimony at church on Sunday that Sunday was Dr. Seuss' birthday. I'm not sure how that was relevant...but anyway. I did just check Wikipedia (the font of all truth) and confirmed that Sunday was his birthday. Maybe you wrote the post Sunday, but didn't acutally get it posted until Monday.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I just can't let a fact go unchecked...it's a disease, really.
All the scools in the area celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday Monday. Abby's favorite's are "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and, of course, "Horton Hears a Who". ...because after all, "A person's a person no matter how small!"
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant SCHOOLS!
ReplyDeleteAdam, you are right on both counts...his birthday was Sunday and it was a post I started and then finished the next day. When I do that I usually remember to go back and fix the 'todays' and 'yesterdays', but I was busy watching the Barbara Walters special on the Royal Family. And I am glad to hear you refer to Wikipedia as the "font of all truth"...it certainly is at our house.
